David and I shared many adventures together in the 60's and 70's. The Margarita Ave home he shared with his Mom and brothers was like a 2nd home for me. David was a gifted guitar player, too.  RIP, my friend....

'Gyro' was my best friend growing up and the very best friend a guy could ever ask for. We spent our youth fishing all around the island, summers at the beach, flying line-controlled Lil' Satan gas engine airplanes that we built ourselves from balsa wood and paper. We would swipe liquor from our parent's bars, taking a little from each bottle and put it all in a mason jar and drink it at the beach. No mixers but hey we were young and forced it down. Steve would even help me deliver my paper route and more than once did it before I woke up. Then he would wake me up shaking me hard and telling me I was late and needed to get going! Then when I went out to the sidewalk and there were no papers he would say "I already delivered them - let's go fishing! A true friend. Never thought of himself 1st. I will always cherish those days and my best friend Gyro. I was so lucky to have him for my pal during those wonderful days on the island. Thanks Gyro! You are the best!!
