Occupation Retired in Nikolaevsk, Alaska

Motto: "Been there, done that" well.... S heck of a lot of adventures in my life...

I have beeb in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for about 15 years.

School Story

When I graduated in 1966, I was told I was not good enough academically for college. I proved them absolutely right by attending a semester at what was then, Southwestern Junior College. I did, however, get an "A" in tennis.

Then, at the age of 45 or so, while living in Las Vegas, New Mexico, I found I had gotten a bit smarter over the years and again attempted another semester in a local community college and wow, I really did great so I transferred to New Mexico Highlands University and promptly started out by getting on the Dean's List the first semester.

In all, I finally graduated from NMHU. First was with a Bachelor's in History and again a bit later with a Master's in Media Arts & Computer Science.

Thought I would toss this in for laughs. Everyone knows the Serenity Prayer, well this one is for seniors:

Prayer for Senility:

God grant me the senility
to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do,
and the eyesight to tell the difference.

Picture of me playing with a Sector San Diego Coast Guard HH-60 Jayhawk while still in San Diego.

As I said earlier, I have since moved permanently to the small Russian village of Nikolaevsk, Alaska near Homer. I am still with the Coast Guard Auxiliary and on Halloween I assisted with the USCGC's 225-foot sea going buoy tender Hickory (WLB-212) in the Homer harbor with their annual haunted ship where they joyfully scared the wits out of children and adults alike. Very creepy, but it was good fun for all.

No picture here yet, but will get one.

I have not figured out how to change my location, but I am now in Nikolaevsk, Alaska, a small Russian village about 19 miles from Homer, Alaska.

Homer is called the halibut capitol of the world and if you have ever see the size of some of the halibut caught here, you would be convinced. The recent contest winner (not me, darn) had one that weighed 221.4 pounds and was 76-inches.

Now I am in the right place for some really good fishing, but I prefer the salmon and trout.
