Thomas Shepard Sanders

I didn’t know him well as I was only at Coronado High for 5 months. But I do have some recollections and perhaps others will be induced to sharing theirs if I get something up for him. He was a good looking guy and I can picture him at his house near north beach with a group of car enthusiasts standing around his dark green 55 Chevy. That was the car to have back in those days.  I can remember the infamous Lou Villar hanging around there before he decided to get into the cannabis distribution business ( Lou not Tommy).  Tom had a sister Suzy (CHS 67) who I believe was a swimmer at CHS. His father was a retired Admiral.

Tom went out with my sister, Rennie, after high school for about a year I think. I was off in the Marines  at the time. They remained friends. The last time I saw him, he and his wife Pam were at a party at Rennie’s  house in the 1990’s. He was moving to Mexico. Later they moved back to be close to her mother in North Carolina. What I didn’t know at the time, He was an Army medic assigned to the Green Berets and did several tours in Vietnam.  Unfortunately for whatever reason he decided to end his own life in 2011.  He left his wife and a two adult stepchildren. I’ve tried to find out more about his Army days but  I haven't been able to make contact with a specific unit.
