Susie was a good friend of mine. She became a professional golfer and then a golf commentator for LPGA. married to Frank Beard. They lived in Palm Desert. I visited her there in 1992 or 1993. She died from cancer, maybe breast cancer. She taught me how to play golf. 😊
Susie was the real deal. She was a Mench. She was genuine and funny and giving. I can't say enough about her. She and her mom hosted a dinner party for me when I returned from my Air Force duties. They went all out and made it sort of a patriotic event. We moved to Palm Desert about 10 years ago and I had every intention of finding her. I knew where she and Frank lived because it was across the street from friends. Unbeknownst to me, she died about a year before we arrived. Our friends had moved to San Francisco and failed to tell us. I am still saddened by her death.
Susie was fearless and daring. I don't know who organized the senior prank,but I sat in her yard down by the ocean,one sunny day, painting the names of each teacher on a separate keg that all showed up on the senior lawn one morning. I never knew which brave souls climbed over the fence that night to put the kegs there but there were alot of kegs. She would take us out for a drive at night in her moms Mustang long before she got her license. Once we saw her mom heading home in her other car and Susie raced home to beat her mom there. I wish she were still with us.
