A loving Father, Son, Brother and Friend. Tim was born in Seattle Washington to CDR Lawrence and Jeanne Oliver. As the son of a Naval Officer Tim spent most of his childhood moving around. He always said he really enjoyed it because it gave him the chance to reinvent himself and make new friends with every new move. Making friends was easy for Tim. He and his older brother Dick stuck together as best friends and, as a competitive swimmer, Tim always quickly found his place in every new town on the swim team. At 13 the Oliver family settled in Coronado, California where Tim finished out his High School days and met his former wife Deborah Toogood. They enjoyed life on the island in the sun and sand and had two children, James and Jessica.

Tim and his brother Dick were hired to run the swim program at The Piedmont Swim Club so he and the family relocated to a new life in Piedmont. Chances are if you learned to swim in the town of Piedmont in the 1980's you were fortunate enough to have learned from Tim. He was also the head coach of the swim team where he helped to shape the lives of many of his swimmers with both his coaching and personal wisdom. Tim was always open to anything and always up for an adventure even hitchhiking across the country in his youth and volunteering for Mountain Rescue. He always came back to the world of swimming though.

Tim had always dreamed of starting his own school and he eventually started Tim Oliver Swimming where he he continued to follow his love of swimming and childhood education . He developed a highly successful program in the Oakland Hills where many of his former swim students brought their own children to learn from the best. Tim was perhaps one of the most selfless people one could ever meet. His value was always in giving and kindness rather than personal gain. Although he was a brilliant man, he preferred the simple things in life and it suited him beautifully.

Tim is survived by his son James Oliver, daughter Jessica Neely, son-in-law David Neely, grandchildren Mary, Jack and Teagan, brothers Dick, John, and Patrick and sister Rebecca Bruggeman as well as countless nieces, nephews and loving friends. Tim's generosity, love and kindness will never be forgotten. -

- See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/eastbaytimes/obituary.aspx?pid=184276321#sthash.JXVDO2ja.dpuf
Timothy Lawrence Oliver
December 23, 1948- February 20, 2017
Oakland, California
- See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/eastbaytimes/obituary.aspx?pid=184276321#sthash.JXVDO2ja.dpuf
Timothy Lawrence Oliver
December 23, 1948- February 20, 2017
Oakland, California
